About PET:
PET is a milky white or light yellow, highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and glossy surface. It has excellent physical and mechanical properties over a wide temperature range, with a usage temperature of up to 120 ℃. Its electrical insulation is excellent, and even at high temperatures and frequencies, its electrical performance is still good. However, it has poor corona resistance, creep resistance, fatigue resistance, friction resistance, and dimensional stability. PET has ester bonds and can decompose under the action of strong acids, bases, and water vapor. It is resistant to organic solvents and has good weather resistance, not resistant to hot water immersion and alkali.
Advantages:
Application:
It is widely used in textile, paper making, food machinery, transportation, wharf, medical treatment, coal mine, chemical industry and other industries. Bearings, guides, food processing machine heads, pistons, screw rolls and other food fixtures, parts, bearings of precision machines, electrical insulation materials, etc.
Disadvantages:
Slow crystallization rate, difficult molding processing, high molding temperature, long production cycle, and poor impact performance. Generally, the processing and physical properties of the resin are improved through methods such as reinforcement, filling, and blending, with a significant effect of glass fiber reinforcement, which enhances the rigidity, heat resistance, drug resistance, electrical properties, and weather resistance of the resin. However, the drawback of slow crystallization speed still needs to be improved by adding nucleating agents and crystallization promoters. Adding flame retardants and flame retardants can improve the flame retardancy and self extinguishing properties of PET.
